Food
Food is very important and we know that well-fed teenagers have a far more positive experience of school. We will manage food in school quite carefully to ensure that children eat well at appropriate times.
Breakfast
The school will have a breakfast club available at a moderate charge (free for children on free school meals). Details for how to sign up will be shared in the summer term. If your child is not coming to breakfast club, please ensure they have a good breakfast before arriving at school. We strongly discourage giving your child money to spend at a shop on the way to school as children very commonly spend this on sweets or high-sugar and caffeine drinks.
Snack
At break time students will be provided with a piece of fruit as a snack.
Lunch
The year group will eat lunch together with members of staff in a model sometimes known as "family dining". There will typically be a choice of two meals available each day, of which at least one will always be vegetarian. We will also cater for other dietary needs.
Students who receive Free School Meals will have the cost of the meal credited to their account. For all other students, parents will be able to pay for the meal through the My Child At School app.
A short reflection will be read before lunch each day and there will be a short time after lunch to recognise and celebrate student efforts and successes over the week. Once lunch is finished, students will have free social time for 20 minutes before heading to their form group.
Water
All students should bring a sensibly-sized water bottle to school which they can keep with them during the day. Flavoured water (e.g. 50% water and 50% apple juice) is fine but no carbonated or very sugary drinks please.
Bringing food to school
Students should not bring any food to school. If your child needs to bring food to school to support a medical need, then please contact the school to arrange this.
